Water Sources in Jordan

  1. Surface Water:

    • Rain and Snow.
    • Running Water like Rivers.
    • Lakes.
    • Dams or Pools.
    • Seas and Oceans.

  2. Ground Waters:

    • Springs.
    • Semi-Artesian Wells.
    • Deep Wells.

Most of these waters are undrinkable in nature. Drinking water should be colorless, tasteless and doesn't smell and free of any pathogenic substances. If such limitations are found in the water, a research should be conducted to know the reasons and treatment methods.

More than 75% of the earth is covered by water, but the fresh water doesn’t exceed 1%, and the water that could be used for home purposes without treatment doesn’t exceed (0.3%), i.e., the underground waters which are not polluted. Still, some of these waters need treatment as the water quality differs based on their physical properties and chemical and biological contents. Thus, the treatment methods differ accordingly.

The treatment techniques have been developed over the years from rudimentary steps in water filtration (defecation and precipitation) to the modern developed techniques after the establishment of treatment works worldwide.

The projects of drinking water treatment stations are one of the most important fresh water sources in the world, in particular, in areas of unusable waters like Jordan.

The treatment stations and types of treatments performed by Miyahuna:

  1. Conventional Treatment:

    • Zai Water Treatment Station Production Capacity 250000 m3/day

  2. R.O technology:

    • Al-Zarah and Ma'in Water Treatment Station Production Capacity 130000 m3/day
    • Abu Al-Zaighan Water Treatment Station Production Capacity 36000 m3/day

  3. Micro Filtration & UV:

    • Wadi Essir Water Treatment Station Production Capacity 9600 m3/day

  4. UF-Filter:

    • Ras Al-Ein Station Production Capacity 24000 m3/day
